Step 1. Carefully place templates for A and C before you cut!    Lay all pieces out in proper places.

Step 2. Join right sides of A pieces together; Press open;
Join right sides of C pieces together; Press open.

Step 3. Join right sides A set & I together; Press open;
Step 4. Join right sides C set & D together; Press open.

Step 5. Join right sides A/I to B;
Press open;
Step 6. Join right sides C/D to B;
Press open.

Step 7. Trim B before attaching J.

Step 8. Fold right sides together, finger press. Trim from corner to corner to make Piece J (boat base).

Step 9. Center (approx) right sides together, sewing J as shown.

Step 10. Lay out "water" Pieces H, G, E, and F.

Step 11. Join right sides E to J; Press open.

Step 12. Join right sides H to J; Press open.

Step 13. First "water" layer sewn.

Step 14. Carefully trim H from corner to 1/4" down from bottom intersection of J, H, and E.

Step 15. Note that 1/4" fabric left at bottom intersection!

Step 16. Trim E from corner to a point that is 1/4" down from intersection of J, E, and H.

Step 17. Join F to E ; Press open. Join G to H; Press open.

Step 18. Square up block. Read Step 21.

Step 19. Square up block to 12 1/2" (making sure you are 1/4" down from intersection of E, H, F & J).

Step 20. Finished Sailboat block!
